In 2002 Honda released an all new model, the Honda Pilot, to fill America’s growing demand for SUVs. The Honda Pilot was an upgrade from previous CR-V models. The most important upgrade was the Honda Pilot’s overall size. It can accommodate eight passengers in the three rows configured as stadium seating. Similar to the Honda Odyssey, the rear seats can fold down into a flat surface for larger cargo. The unibody construction and independent suspension provide similar handling to that of a car. However, the integrated perimeter frame rails allow for towing as well as light off-roading use.

The Honda Pilot continued to be a bestseller and received more updates and new features as it grew in popularity. These updates included heated seats and side mirrors, a sunroof, tire pressure monitoring system, new seat fabrics, electronic stability control, revised steering, and upgraded airbags. As per Honda’s dedication to safety, additional safety features have also been added, such as side curtain airbags with rollover sensory and Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control. Plus rearview cameras while in reverse gear and navigation systems.

While the Honda Pilot is an extremely reliable vehicle, it is another one that’s louder than customers expect. The most common complaints for the Honda Pilot are road noise, cabin noise, tire noise, and engine noise.

Honda Pilot Cabin Noise Reduction Treatment

The good news for your Honda Pilot is that reducing the noise is possible with help from Second Skin Audio. If you want the best Honda Pilot sound deadening treatment, our Vehicle Soundproofing Package is the perfect solution. These vehicle packages come in different sizes based on the type of vehicle. For a Honda Pilot we recommend our Full Size SUV Vehicle Soundproofing Package, which includes two of our two most popular products, Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro. The combination of the two significantly reduces both structural and airborne noise in your Honda Pilot

What is Damplifier Pro?

Damplifier Pro has been the best performing sound deadening mat for over 20 years. A lot of the noise in your Honda Pilot comes from rattling or vibrating metal from your floor, firewall, door, trunk, roof and hood .These noises are considered “structural”, because the sound energy travels through the physical structure of the vehicle. Damplifier Pro is designed to silence structural noise by reducing vibrations caused by the metal body panels and components in your Honda Pilot. By applying Damplifier Pro to these metal body panels, you’ll damp the vibrations and get a noticeably quieter cabin. Stop the vibrations, and you’ll stop the noise! You only need about 60% coverage to hear a massive difference in the noise level within your Honda Pilot. This means less install time and less cost, with more potential sound reduction than lower performing sound deadening materials.

What is Luxury Liner Pro?

Luxury Liner Pro is our best performing automotive sound barrier. Think of it as an extremely dense second wall that you install between the cabin and the sources of airborne noise in your Honda Pilot (engine noise, tire noise, and road noise). You're going to want to get as close to 100% coverage on the cabin firewall, floor, and trunk area because most of these airborne noises are coming from the front and below the vehicle. By covering 100% of the surface, you’ll build a better barrier that will block more noise. This is because airborne noise will enter through the weakest point in any barrier – you don’t want gaps! Combined with a vibration damping material like Spectrum or Damplifier Pro, Luxury Liner Pro is the best car soundproofing treatment you can give your Honda Pilot and will reduce the noise level by 10+ decibels while driving on the highway.

How To Reduce Honda Pilot Tire Noise

If you are dealing with unwanted road and tire noise, Spectrum Spray Liquid Sound Deadener as a wheel well sound deadening treatment is going to be the most cost effective treatment for a noticeable noise reduction. Many customers choose this treatment because it is easy to install and you do not need access to the interior of the vehicle. To install the Spectrum Liquid Deadener, you apply 3mm of Spectrum into each wheel well. This is applied as 1mm layers directly to the metal for a total of three layers. Application can be done by spraying the liquid applied sound deadener onto the wheel well, or painting it on with a brush or roller. 2 gallons of Spectrum Liquid Deadener will cover four wheel wells. Cabin noise in your Honda Pilot will be reduced by 3-5 dB on the highway. Pretty dang good for such an easy application!
