Honda Element Road Noise Reduction

The Honda Element first came out in 2003 and brought an odd design for the time. This front wheel drive compact SUV had a cube-like shape with plastic cladding on the exterior that was meant to give it a rugged look. The Element was powered by a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine and could be purchased with either a manual or an automatic transmission.

Production of the Honda Element lasted until early 2011, when it was finally discontinued by Honda. Many people have grown to love the boxy look of the Element that gives them a ton of interior space and a vehicle that looks unlike anything else on the road.

While the design of the Element adds to the interior space, it doesn’t create a very quiet interior space. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help you make your Honda Element’s interior as quiet as possible.

To soundproof your honda, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the noise source.

  2. Use our Damplifier Pro AND Luxury Liner Pro  for cabin reduction treatment OR Spectrum Liquid Deadener for element tire noise reduction.

STEP ONE: identify the noise source

When soundproofing your honda, it's important to first deteremine where the noise is coming from. Ask yourself, are you hearing the noise from your tire(s), from inside your cabin, or both?

STEP TWO: USE Damplifier PRO AND LUXURY LINER PRO OR SPECTRUM SOUND deadenER

OPTION A: Honda Element Cabin Noise Reduction Treatment

One of the biggest complaints we hear from Honda Element owners is just how loud the interior is. The doors are quite a bit larger than a lot of other SUVs in this segment and are unusually hollow inside. Pair that with the open-concept boxy shape of the Element, and you basically have yourself an amplifier on wheels.

If you want the best Honda Element sound deadening treatment, then check out our Compact Sport Utility Vehicle Soundproofing Package. This kit is designed to reduce cabin noise in a car that is caused by both structural and airborne sounds and will make a significant difference in the cabin noise in your Element, one of the biggest issues with this car. When installed completely, you can expect to reduce the interior noise of a Honda Element by 10-15 dB when driving down the highway!

Inside the Compact Sport Utility Vehicle Soundproofing Package, you'll find two of our most popular and highest rated products, Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro. If you’re looking for a great way to reduce noise in your Honda Element and want products that will last the life of your car, this is the perfect package for you!

What is Damplifier Pro?

Damplifier Pro has been the best performing sound deadening mat for almost 20 years. If you’re having rattling or vibration noises coming from anything in the vehicle that’s made of metal, these noises are all “structural”. Damplifier Pro is designed to silence structural noise by reducing vibrations from the metal components in your Element. By stopping the vibrations, you’ll stop the unwanted cabin noise. Because of the hollow doors in the Honda Element, that’s the first place we always target with Damplifier Pro. You also can apply Damplifier Pro to the trunk, floor, hood, and more, to deaden these vibrations and get a noticeably quieter cabin.

You only need about 60% coverage to hear a massive difference in the noise level within your Element. This means less install time and less cost than a lower performing sound deadening treatment, although you can always choose to cover 100% for the best possible results.

What is Luxury Liner Pro?

Luxury Liner Pro is our best performing automotive sound barrier and is known industry-wide as being one of the best sound deadening products on the market. Think of it as an extremely dense extra wall that you install between the cabin and the sources of airborne noise in your Element (engine noise, tire noise, and road noise). You're going to want to get as close to 100% coverage as possible because the better your coverage, the better the barrier and the less airborne noise you'll hear. Airborne noise will enter through the weakest point in any barrier so leaving gaps is like leaving the door open and hoping to keep out noise. Combined with a vibration damping material like Spectrum or Damplifier Pro, Luxury Liner Pro is the best car soundproofing treatment you can give your Honda Element.

OPTION B: How To Reduce Honda Element Tire Noise

That odd boxy shape of the Honda Element tends to work as an amplifier for road noise. If you’re looking to reduce road noise and tire noise in your Honda Element without installing any materials inside the vehicle, then we have the perfect, easy-to-install solution.

It’s called Spectrum Liquid Deadener. This is the easiest way to reduce Honda Element tire noise and road noise. All you need to do to install Spectrum Liquid Deadener is apply 3mm of Spectrum into each wheel well (applied as 1mm layers – 3 total layers) directly to the metal. You can do this by spraying the liquid deadener on or painting it on with a brush or roller. For 4 wheel wells, we recommend purchasing 2 gallons of Spectrum Liquid Deadener. This will reduce the cabin noise in your Element by 3-5 dB on the highway! Not bad for such an easy install!
