Popular Jeep Treatment: Spectrum Liquid Sound Deadening
JEEP Wrangler Sound deadening
Spectrum liquid sound deadening has been the go-to product for many Jeep owners for the past 15 years. Because Jeep designs tend to be both really loud and really open, a Spectrum spray on application is a very easy and effective solution.
Spectrum is a water-based acrylic polymer that will stop vibrating panels dead in their tracks, reduce heat transfer, and even lower tire noise when used in the wheel wells. Spectrum can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed on. The average 2-Door Jeep will take about 4-5 gallons for the interior tub (or the full undercarriage). Sound deadening a 4-Door Jeep takes 5-6 gallons. We recommend that Jeep owners apply at least 3mm of total thickness (2-3 layers) to combat the unusually loud tire noises often found in Jeeps.
For premium sound and thermal insulation, go with our Jeep Build Package. The package has Spectrum Spray on Deadener for the vibration damping and heat transfer plus a layer of Luxury Liner Pro mass loaded vinyl to block out the airborne sound waves from the road noise and engine noise.

Spectrum sound deadening is used in a wide variety of ways, depending on the Jeep and what the owner is looking for. Here's a couple more pics that give you an idea of what your project could look like:
- Jeep #1: This Jeep owner sprayed on Spectrum to sound deaden the Jeep's entire interior tub. After masking, this strategy is very quick to execute and looks awesome.
- Jeep #2: Spectrum was rolled on with a paint roller in this Jeep. It's just as effective as spraying on for people that would rather not mess with a spray gun.
- Jeep #3: Sometimes you just want to add some flare to your Jeep. This project turned out awesome - functional and gorgeous!
Jeep #1: Spray on that Sound Deadening!
Jeep floor after (3) 1mm layers of Spectrum. 2mm is the minimum suggested application. For any vehicle with aggressive treads, we recommended to get to at least 3mm of total thickness.
Jeep #2: A Roller Works too!
Spectrum is just as effective when applied with a roller. When rolling or brushing on, you have to be extra careful to stay at the 1mm layer. If you apply it too thick and don't give Spectrum enough time to cure between layers, it can result in cracks. It works great, but take your time!
Jeep #3: Adding some Style
Some customers like to add a little extra Spectrum to the outside because it looks so good! If you want to apply Spectrum to a high gloss surface like this, you will need to scuff up the metal and apply a primer for Spectrum to make a solid bond.

Keith S reached out to us about his very noisy 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee roof. He also wanted to reduce some of the heat he felt coming through. We pointed him to the Large Roof Kit for his project and he was set!

Chad's Jeep
Chad went all out on his project with our Jeep Kit. Chad sprayed 6 gallons of Spectrum liquid sound deadener onto the floor, doors, cargo area, and roof. He followed up with the 6 sheets of Luxury Liner Pro for the cabin side firewall, floor, cargo area, and over the wheel well humps. Chad was able to get a 9 db reduction in overall road noise in his Jeep.

The barrier layer, Luxury Liner Pro mass loaded vinyl with infused closed cell foam is the real workhorse when reducing airborne sound from tires, road, engine, and exhaust.
