Yes. Thicker panels absorb lower frequencies more effectively than thinner ones. Most panels run 1 to 2 inches thick, which covers the frequency range most rooms need, but we do have bass traps for extra low frequency absorption. Leaving a small air gap behind a 2" panel is a creative way to improve low-frequency performance.
