FAQs

To reduce ductwork noise, there are a few approaches.
  1. Acoustic Duct Liner - Line the inside of the duct with a quality acoustic duct liner like EcoVerb Roll™ to control reflected sound from traveling through your ducts.
  2. Ductwork Turns - For every true 90 degree turn, you can reduce about 6 decibels of noise up to three times, which is good for about 35% quieter per turn.
  3. Baffle Box - The same 90 degree principle is used when building baffle boxes. With full 90 degree turns, air can still travel through without easily yielding to sound. Line the walls and partitions of the baffle box with EcoVerb Acoustic Duct liner and keep sound from reflecting inside the box.

HVAC is often thought of in two parts: the unit and the ductwork. The products we have here are for soundproofing the ductwork. If you need to soundproof around an HVAC unit, you'll want to use one of our outdoor soundproofing products like our reinforced MLV or exterior soundproof blankets to control outdoor noise. If you are hearing noise through your windows, you need Fantastic Frame Window Inserts over all windows that have a sound leak from the HVAC unit startup and running.
