Mike's ski boat
This boat engine cover remodeling project was done by Mike and his son over the winter of 2016! Their goal was to remove the old factory insulation that was falling off and replace it with some new high-quality Amertican-made Second Skin sound and heat insulation. Let the dirty work begin. Scrapping out the old failing factory insulation to get back down to a good base starting point is key to long-lasting replacement.
It never hurts to spray on some primer before starting fresh.
On goes the first layer of the Boat Engine Compartment Insulation Package, the Damplifier Pro.
Next up, is layer 2, the sound and heat insulation layer. Heat Wave Pro was used on this boat for the second layer. Make sure to tape up any seams or edges with high-temperature foil tape.
Mike and his son are all ready to hit the open water and enjoy their quiet and cool boat all summer long.

This project was a few years in the making. Scott covered the entire boat doghouse with Damplifier Pro and then applied the Heat Wave Pro on top with foil tape on the seams and edges. This reduce his noise transfer into the boat area by a a good 8 dB, keeping him quiet and cool while driving around the lakes.
After years of use, it was time to get the engine cover replaced. Second Skin to the rescue.
First layer of the boat engine compartment kit is the Damplifier Pro. Used to kill vibrations and reduce heat transfer. Rolled on with a wooden roller to formn a solid bond.
Follow that up with complete coverage of the Heat Wave Pro. Using the high temperature foil tape to seal the seams and edges.
After about 2 hours, Scott finished up his boat engine cover kit installation.

2020 Yamaha jet boat
Adam covered the engine door with the Second Skin Dampener, then the Heat Wave Pro, then put the original foam back in (cause why not). Everywhere else inside the engine bay he used the Damplifier Pro. Adam also covered the fuel compartment door with the Damplifier Pro which was 9 sqft. It's much quieter than before at idle/sunset cruise speeds making it easier to talk. And quieter when accelerating and at plane speeds. So all around it was worth the investment. Adam really liked that Second Skin is a reputable commercial brand, is rated to hold up to high temps, made in America, will act as a fire retardant, AND the great customer service. dB changes below.

Final look with the Second Skin Boat Kit along with the factory foam added back on.
From the Yamaha factory they only add a small square of foam, doing almost nothing.
Follow that up with complete coverage of the Heat Wave Pro. Using the high temperature foil tape to seal the seams and edges.
After some removaland clean up work, Adam applied the first layer of sound deadening to the boat engine cover.

Boat hatch cover
This boat project was completed by our long time Second Skin Singapore distributor Antonie. He used the Damplifier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro to line the cargo hatch covers of his boat to block sound and heat from coming up through the seats which sit on top of the hatch cover.
1st step, Damplifier Pro on the hatch cover.
Second layer of the hatch gets the Luxury Liner Pro to block out sound.

When you open up the hatch and see this...it's time for some new stuff!
Factory heat shield and noise insulation is failing and falling off. Time for an upgrade.
1st step, get the old stuff off and clean the surface well with denatured alcohol.
1st layer of Second Skin to go on the cover is the Damplifier Pro, to kill vibration noise and stop heat transfer.
2nd layer of the Boat Engine Cover Kit, Mega Block. To absorb the airborne noise and also to thermally insualte the engine cover. No more sound and heat coming up through here with the Second Skin treatment.
