FAQs

For a van conversion, absolutely yes - insulate your van. There are very few places in the USA with comfortable temperatures year round (I see you Los Angeles)! Insulating your van's walls, ceiling, and doors will help keep a consistent temperature inside - warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

For walls and doors, we recommend flexible insulation that can fit into curves and around the structure of the van. We often use our recycled jute products (EcoVerb Roll and Heat Wave Pro), which are extremey flexible, cost-effective, and eco-friendly. Customers concerned about exposure to water often use Mega Zorbe - our line of hydrophobic melamine foam. For ceilings, we will recommend these same products but will vary the thickness depending on the specific model and height of the van.

Reflectix is almost always a poor choice for a van conversion as its easy to mess up the install. To get a good R-value, Reflectix needs to be installed with an air gap between itself and the substrate. It's easy for a DIY installer to mess this up - especially when combined with the moving, ever-changing environment that is a house on wheels.
