Product Usage Tips

  • Clean up with water within 20 minutes of application. Do not wait longer or Spectrum™ will dry. Always clean the spray gun between coats by running water through it.
  • Do not thin or tint Spectrum™.
  • If applying multiple layers of Spectrum™, wait 30-60 minutes for the product to cure and change color from blue to black.
  • The temperature must be above 50°F for the entire 24 hours cure period after applying Spectrum™.
    • Dry times increase with low temperatures and high humidity.
    • Do not apply heat directly to Spectrum™ to attempt to increase cure time.
    • If you expect longer than usual dry times, we recommend thinner layers (0.5mm instead of 1mm) to the same total thickness.
  • For small hard-to-tape-off areas like brake lines, wires, etc. use aluminum foil to wrap around them to avoid Spectrum bonding to them.
  • Spectrum™ is designed to adhere to metal. Do not apply to plastic or fiberglass without the proper primer. If applying to a high gloss wax coat, you must sand down and apply a primer.
  • Do not freeze Spectrum! If it does freeze, do not mix, shake, or move until it has completely thawed.
  • Wait 24-36 hours (depending on humidity) before replacing anything like upholstery. Wait 7 to 10 days before painting or applying a bed liner.
  • As Spectrum™ cures, its deadening properties will continue to increase. Vibration damping doubles from 4 hours --> 48 hours, and continues improving for 7 days.
  • Spectrum™ contains rust inhibitors and dries with a seamless finish. It is water resistant.
  • Even after it has cured, it can be damaged by heavy impact.
  • Shelf life of 1 year when stored at room temperature, unopened, and 30 days once opened.
  • Use Spectrum™ anywhere you have vibrating metal to soundproof the structure, like a metal shed roof.

Installation Instructions

Spraying Instructions

Recommended Tools: PowrTwin 6900 Electric Powered Airless Sprayer System or PowrCoat 1045 Air Powered Airless Sprayer System (55 Gallon Drum Siphon required)

  1. Clear off surface of any oil, tar, rust, grease, salts, and films to ensure a solid contact surface. Clean with denatured alcohol.
    • Applying primer to cleaned surface may be required.
  2. Mask off anywhere you don't want Spectrum™ applied to avoid overspray.
  3. Hold the sprayer 6-10" from the surface and apply Spectrum™ with a sweeping motion to 1mm layer thickness.
    • If Spectrum runs, you are applying it too thick. Always clean the spray gun between layers by running water through it until there's no dark pigment.
    • After 30 to 60 minutes (depending on temperature and humidity), Spectrum™ will skin over and change colors from blue to black. Once Spectrum™ is dry to the touch, it’s safe to add another layer.
    • The recommended total thickness is 2 to 3mm (max 5mm). Contact us if you have questions!
  4. Clean the spray gun within 20 minutes of use to avoid Spectrum™ setting inside the gun.

    • Applying primer to cleaned surface may be required.
  2. Mask off anywhere you don't want Spectrum™ applied.
  3. Dip roller into roller pan filled with Spectrum™ and roll on the surface like paint at 1mm layer thickness.
