Install Instructions

Recommended Installation: Mechanically fasten with screws
The easiest way to install BlocknZorbe™ sound panels is to screw them into drywall, wood, metal, or concrete. All screws should be at least 3/4" from the edge of the panel.
Our recommended adhesives can be used as an optional installation method
If field cuts are needed, use a table saw. Set blade to cut half the thickness of the BlocknZorbe™ acoustic material. (i.e. for a 2" thick panel, cut 1" and then flip the panel over and cut 1" again to complete the cut)

BlocknZorbe can also be installed with adhesive. We offer the P329 Spray Adhesive (BlocknZorbe™ Install Guide (P329 Spray Adhesive)) or adhesive can be bought locally (BlocknZorbe™ Install Guide (Construction Adhesive)).

Can BlocknZorbe be used outside?

Yes, in charcoal only. The panel is waterproof, and the charcoal color is UV stable, so it holds up outdoors for 25+ years.

What happens if I use white BlocknZorbe outside or in direct sunlight?

White BlocknZorbe used outside in direct sunlight will last 2-4 years before the panel begins to degrade. The top layer develops a slight dust that comes off, and full breakdown of the panel would take an estimated 25+ years. In a window jamb application (behind glass), degradation is expected to take roughly 1-2 years longer than direct exposure before the white powder appears.

Can BlocknZorbe be painted?

Yes. Apply light coats so the paint doesn't fill the porous holes and reduce acoustical performance. It's best to do a trial run on the back side first to confirm adhesion. Water-based paints tend to stick better than acrylic paints, though this hasn't been tested exhaustively.

How do I cut BlocknZorbe?

Use a table saw or circular saw. For the 1" panel, cut straight through. For the 2" panel, cut halfway through, then flip the panel over and complete the cut from the opposite side. When cutting with a circular saw or jigsaw with a fine-tooth blade, the blade heats up quickly on 2" material. If it gets too hot, the edge can come out uneven or rough. Cutting 1" at a time or letting the blade cool between cuts helps produce a smoother edge.

Can BlocknZorbe be cut to size?

Yes, panels can be cut to any size up to 2' x 4'.

How much adhesive is needed for the construction adhesive + spray adhesive method?

Divide total panel square footage by 80 for the spray adhesive can count, and by 40 for the construction adhesive tube count. For example, 400 sq ft requires 10 tubes of construction adhesive and 5 cans of spray adhesive.
