Is BlocknZorbe fire rated?

Yes, BlocknZorbe is Class A fire rated under ASTM E84. The 1" panel tests at a flame spread of 3 and a smoke developed of 84, and the 2" panel at a flame spread of 5 and a smoke developed of 113.

Is BlocknZorbe fiberglass-free?

Yes, BlocknZorbe is made of expanded polypropylene bead foam with no fiberglass and no fibrous material. That makes it a great fit for swimming pools, clean rooms, laboratories, and food preparation and processing areas.

How do I install BlocknZorbe?

You can install BlocknZorbe with X60 spray adhesive alone, with construction adhesive plus spray adhesive, or by screwing it directly to furring or other supporting structure. X60 spray adhesive is our preferred adhesive for panels. See our construction adhesive install guide, spray adhesive install guide, and direct attach install guide for step-by-step instructions.

How much adhesive do I need to install BlocknZorbe?

If you install BlocknZorbe with Titebond Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive and P329 spray adhesive, a general rule is to divide your total panel square footage by 80 for the number of spray adhesive cans, and by 40 for the number of construction adhesive tubes. For example, 400 sq ft of BlocknZorbe generally takes 10 tubes of construction adhesive and 5 cans of spray adhesive. See our construction adhesive install guide for the full method.

Can BlocknZorbe be painted?

Yes, you can paint BlocknZorbe but with a light coat only. If you apply too heavy a coat, the paint will fill the porous holes and alter the acoustic performance. If you are interested in a painted acoustic panel, Timberwool Painted Panels are an excellent alternative.

Install Instructions

Recommended Installation: Mechanically fasten with screws
The easiest way to install BlocknZorbe™ sound panels is to screw them into drywall, wood, metal, or concrete. All screws should be at least 3/4" from the edge of the panel.
Our recommended adhesives can be used as an optional installation method
If field cuts are needed, use a table saw. Set blade to cut half the thickness of the BlocknZorbe™ acoustic material. (i.e. for a 2" thick panel, cut 1" and then flip the panel over and cut 1" again to complete the cut)
These steps can be found in the BlocknZorbe™ Install Guides: (Direct Attach).

BlocknZorbe can also be installed with adhesive. We offer the P329 Spray Adhesive (BlocknZorbe™ Install Guide (P329 Spray Adhesive)) or adhesive can be bought locally (BlocknZorbe™ Install Guide (Construction Adhesive)).
