How to Insulate a Van Floor

Remove any factory flooring, plywood, trim pieces, and debris so the metal floor pan is fully exposed. Vacuum and wipe the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, or residue that could prevent proper adhesion.

A clean surface ensures that sound deadening materials bond securely to the metal.

The first layer reduces vibration and structure-borne noise created by road contact and engine movement. This is done with one of our highly effective sound deadening materials. Use Damplifier Pro™ sound deadening mat at a minimum of 60% coverage across the floor panels to significantly reduce vibration. At 100% you get enhanced sound benefits and a tougher barrier for heat to transfer through.

Alternatively, you can apply Spectrum™ liquid deadener 2-3 1mm thick layers across the floor surface. If using Spectrum, allow 7 days of drying and curing time before installing anything over it.

After vibration has been reduced, install a dense sound barrier and thermal layer across the entire floor. Luxury Liner Pro™ should go down at 100% coverage over the treated floor. It is a mass loaded vinyl sheet with a built in closed cell foam decoupler that blocks airborne noise while also improving thermal insulation.

After laying the insulation barrier, seal all seams between sections to maintain acoustic and thermal performance. Use vinyl tape or high-temperature foil tape to close gaps between material seams. Proper sealing prevents air gaps that could reduce the effectiveness of the insulation system.
