UltraTouch contains several pieces per bag that are perforated for off-size cavity installations. You can measure your cavity and tear along a perforation to create the size you need for a friction fit. The batt should be roughly 0.5” wider than the actual cavity.

There are many types of insulation you can choose from. While they will all offer the same level of insulation based on their R-Value, there are some significant differences between the major types:

Insulation Comparison

Denim insulation is made from recycled cotton — think blue jeans — instead of traditional fiberglass or mineral wool. It’s a safe, eco friendly insulation that helps control both temperature and sound. Because it’s naturally fibrous, denim does a great job absorbing sound energy, cutting down noise between rooms (generally 1-2 dB quieter than fiberglass insulation) Plus, it’s itch-free and easy to handle.

Soundproof insulation like our denim insulation is generally about 2x the cost of fiberglass insulation. Basic fiberglass insulation runs around $0.50–$1.00 per square foot, while soundproof insulation options like mineral wool or denim insulation can range from $1.00–$3.00+ per square foot. In applications where you need to reduce as much airborne sound as possible (like home theaters and studios), investing a bit more in purpose-built acoustic insulation is absolutely worth it — it reduces about 1-2 dB more than fiberglass insulation and is eco friendly and safer to install. Yes, you’re paying more, but you're getting better performing insulation that's eco friendly and better for the planet — not a bad trade for a quieter, greener alternative to fiberglass.
