Installation Instructions
Installation Instructions
Always read the full install guide prior to beginning installation! Each Sound Lock Soundproof Door weighs 350 lbs and is designed for top-end soundproofing. Installation should be done with tight tolerances and attention to detail.
- Prep Rough Opening – Confirm the rough opening dimensions and ensure it’s double studded. Back steel studs with wood for added strength. The bottom seal must close against a solid surface—no carpet or soft flooring underneath.
- Unpack & Position – Remove the bottom plate, verify door swing directions, and carefully place the double-door frame into the opening.
- Shim & Secure Hinges – Shim behind each hinge on both doors, replace temporary screws with heavy-duty ones, and confirm both hinge jambs are plumb and aligned.
- Align Meeting Stiles – Adjust each door leaf for a consistent 1/8" reveal where the doors meet. Fine-tune shims and strike alignment to ensure smooth operation and tight closure.
- Jamb Extension (if needed) – Cut extension to fit jamb, then glue and nail securely in place.
- Seal Door Frame – Insert backer rod, apply acoustical sealant along the perimeter, and reinstall trim for a clean, airtight finish.
- Hardware & Seals – Install handle sets, flush bolts, and secondary seals. Adjust perimeter and bottom seals for even contact. Finish by adding the wood cap kit to conceal jamb seals and complete the look.
Detailed step-by-step instructions are in our Sound Lock Soundproof Door Install Guide.
