FAQs

If you want the best R-value possible Mega Block hydrophobic melamine foam is made for the water and works best on flatter surfaces. It has a peel & stick backing for easy install. These are rigid, so you'll want to keep it on mostly flat surfaces where the occasional relief cut and foil tape cover will do the trick. If you need a flexible insulation for engine compartments that are rounded or have more contours, Heat Wave Pro is your best choice. It has a great R-value too and can often perform above that value due to the two layers of foil on either side of the jute.

The best insulation for boats has to be built to insulate well for heat and for sound. That's why we developed our Boat Engine Compartment Insulation Kits are designed to provide the very best insulation a boat can get. We combine Damplifier Pro, a butyl sound deadening with a foil constraint layer to deaden vibrations and resist thermal transfer in a doghouse, with one of two premium boat insulation products. Your first option is Mega Block hydrophobic melamine foam with a foil heat shield for a high R-value material made for the water, which works best on flatter surfaces. For curved surfaces that require a little more flexibility, Heat Wave Pro jute insulation sandwiched between two foil layers is also great for reflecting heat and insulating, allowing it to punch above its already-impressive R-value.
