Why Second Skin is the Best Dynamat Alternative

Joking aside, we’re here to make a good faith comparison between Second Skin and Dynamat. We aren’t interested in bashing Dynamat, but we are frequently asked about their products and figured it’s a topic worth addressing. The short answer is that Dynamat has an excellent brand and makes a great product. We actually like Dynamat, because they set a high standard for quality that we felt we had to beat to be relevant. They also don’t sell good people mediocre asphalt mats that work poorly and could expose them to harmful chemicals. Please… don’t get us started on cheap sound deadeners…

But we founded Second Skin to be the best quality and an affordable price. For those who respect their cars and want to treat them right, our automobile sound deadening material perform the best and at the best value . Our customers stick with us because they know we’re a better solution than Dynamat, and we know it too because we have the data to back it up.

That doesn’t mean Dynamat makes a bad product… I’d say it’s a nod to their quality that we’re even bothering to talk about them on our website. But when you break it down to what matters based on performance and value, Second Skin has the best solution available on the market today.

*Acoustic loss factor is a measure of how much vibrational energy is converted to heat instead of sound. The theoretical maximum is 1, but anything over 0.1 is very good. Tests were conducted at 7 service temperatures between 32 F and 140 F using testing method SAE J1637.
