Installation Instructions
Always read the full install guide prior to beginning installation! The Sound Lock Soundproof Door weighs 350 lbs and is designed for top-end soundproofing. Installation should be done with tight tolerances and attention to detail.
- Prep Rough Opening – Verify rough opening size and that the RO is double studded. Back steel studs with wood studs. Bottom seal must drop onto a hard surface (no carpet).
- Unpack & Position – Remove bottom plate, check door swing, and place door in opening.
- Shim & Secure Hinges – Install shims behind hinges, replace hinge screws with heavy-duty ones, and confirm hinge side is plumb.
- Latch Side Setup – Shim to 1/8" reveal, align strike, and raise or lower jamb to align.
- Jamb Extension (if needed) – Cut extension to size, glue, and nail into place.
- Seal Door Frame – Insert backer rod, apply acoustical sealant, and reinstall trim.
- Hardware & Seals – Install handle set and secondary seal. Adjust jamb seals and bottom seal. Install wood cap kit to conceal jamb seals.
