Fantastic Frame™ Soundproof Window Inserts

Most windows see between 50% and 60% noise reduction with a Fantastic Frame insert. The exact amount depends on your existing window and the size of the air gap. The table shows tested examples.

Fantastic Frame is the only window insert that meaningfully reduces lower frequency noise. Because of the technology in the frame, the acrylic glass can flex in and out slightly with heat, humidity and sound waves. That movement improves both the noise and heat performance.

Fantastic Frame inserts reduce heat transfer by up to 62%. In independent NVLAP-approved lab testing, one example test showed a 62% reduction in heat transfer, measured by R-value and U-value. Your results depend on your window and installation.

Measure the rough opening width at the top, middle and bottom, and the height on the left and right. It is common for window jambs to be slightly out of square, so measure all five points. Fantastic Frame inserts have 25+ years in the field with basically no maintenance or durability issues. The high-grade 1/4" acrylic is UV stable, so it will not yellow, and it gives about 20% better visibility than standard glass. It also absorbs over 90% of the harmful UV wavelengths that fade fabrics and artwork.

Fantastic Frame inserts install either in-jamb or flush mount to the wall around the jamb. If you choose an in-jamb mount, metal L-brackets are screwed into the jamb and sill. If you cannot screw into the sill, you would use a pad for the sill. If you choose a flush mount, flat metal trim with strong double-sided tape adheres to the face of the wall. The insert either needs to rest on a sill with a pad or on swivel clips (provided) to support the weight of the frame. Yes, a Fantastic Frame insert pops off its magnets like a picture frame. We offer a free handle attachment on request. A larger insert may need two people because of its weight.

The full system is about 1" deep, made up of a 7/8" insert and 1/8" of metal trim. Check that you have that much clearance behind your blinds.

The Fantastic Frame frame has a UL 94 V-0 rating, and the acrylic is self-extinguishing according to ASTM D-638.

Fantastic Frame uses high-grade acrylic that is 1/4" thick. The table shows its flammability, temperature and UL ratings.

A soundproof window insert is a second, removable panel that mounts over your existing window. Fantastic Frame uses a 1/4" acrylic panel in a lightweight frame that holds on with magnets. The air gap between the insert and your window reduces noise and heat transfer, so you keep your current window.

Yes, a Fantastic Frame insert helps with low-frequency bass noise better than other window inserts. It performs best when you leave a 4.5" to 6" air gap.

To get the most noise reduction from your Fantastic Frame inserts, seal every gap around the window jamb first. Then, if space allows it, install the inserts toward the edge of the jamb to create the biggest air space possible between the insert and the existing window. Every doubling of the air gap adds roughly 2-3 STC points. You can also add UV stable acoustic material like Charcoal BlocknZorbe in the air gap to improve performance further. Lastly, make sure your window insert is fully sealed around the edges. Seal any remaining gaps with acoustical sealant, using backer rod first for larger gaps.
