Branden went all out with this sweet replica build of the awesome character IRONHIDE from Transformers. This is a full frame off restoration currently still in progress. Branden of BW Customs and Automotive used 5 gallons of Spectrum to get four 1 mm coats on the floor, firewall, roof, and back wall of this GMC 3500. He used another two gallons of Spectrum on the doors to get three 1 mm layers on the inner and outer door skins. The body has been painted and returned back to the chassis and he's doing all the cool add-ons like Transformer emblems and lighting. Check out his build as it progresses on Branden's Instagram page.
Branden's 3500 IRONSIDE build at its current stage.
Like we said, this bad boy started off as a frame off restoration...bare bones!!!
And here is the cab, all ready for that Second Skin love.
Step 1 of prep for Spectrum: Clean, scrub, and vacum the dirt and debri from the application surfaces.
All cleaned up and ready to fix some rust spots with primer.
All scuffed up, primed, and ready for that Spectrum treatment.
It is always best to tape off and wrap the project areas that you don't want the Spectrum on, here Branden used our Plastiwrap self adhesive plastic tarps.
Looking real good, Spectrum sprayed on the floor, with four 1 mm caots to get the best of sound and heat insulation.
The floor and back wall fully covered with Spectrum liquid sound deadening.
Front doors getting the Spectrum sprayed on...
Rear doors getting their Spectrum bath.
First layers of Spectrum going on the roof.
The roof after the fourth 1 mm layer of Spectrum, dead silent now!!!
In the booth getting wet with some fresh new black paint.
Newly painted doors looking real good.
Cab is back on the chassis and this build is getting real BIG!!!
So BIG....Getting a first start after reassembly.
Branden's IRONSIDE playing peek a boo...he wants to come out and play!!!!
