Damplifier™ is the most impressive noise and vibration mat in its class.
With a total thickness of just over 1.5mm, this foil backed butyl damper absorbs vibrations and insures a cool and quiet ride by killing road, engine and exhaust drone while dissipating temperatures up to 500 degrees f..
Apply this self adhesive sound deadener on your cars sheet metal to insure a more comfortable ride.
Whether you are looking to quiet down your hot rod, or make your daily driver comfortable as a luxury car, Damplifier is the easiest, most resiliant vibration damper on the market.
Here is a Quick lesson:
The majority of reducible noise in any car is structure borne, meaning it comes from vibrations, like a wind chime. Unlike wind chimes however, our cars are not tuned to any specific musical frequency, so what we end up hearing is the road noise, engine rumble and exhaust drone.
Stopping the vibrations on your cars metal panels is much like stopping a noisy wind chime with your hand. Once the vibrations stop, the noise stops.
Traditional noise mats are mostly inefficient mass loaders; heavy & foul smelling tar boards that work by adding weight to the cars metal to quiet it down.
Damplifier is not a mass loader. It is a constraint layer damper that converts the vibrational enery in to low level heat. This conversion of energy makes it 300% more efficient than mass loaders while weighing much less.

If you have an aftermarket, sound system, then you know that a lot of the musical energy is spent, and even wasted by vibrating and flexing the your cars metal panels. Not only are these vibrations loud, and obnoxious, but they also limit the potential of your stereo.
Damplifier will help improve your audio system in several ways:
First, and perhaps most obvious, it will kill the vibrations, which will reduce panel distortion and strengthen the area around the speakers. Less vibrations means less unwanted noise and a more stable environment for the speakers to perform in.
Second, it will increase the volume of your music by keeping the acoustical energy in the car rather than letting it escape through the vibrating panels. Volume inside the car increases while nasty panel resonance outside the car is eliminated.
And finally, Damplifier improves your audio system is by reducing ambient sound like road noise, engine noise & exhaust drone. When you can quiet down the rest of the car, the stereo has less sonic real estate to fight for, and the perceived volume increases.
Want even better results from your sound damping install?
Adding as little as 1 gallon to to the areas of the car you are unable to reach with your damping mats, can help in increase surface coverage by as much as 15%.

Damplifier is not only our most popular sound deadening mat, but it also is our best selling thermal insulator. The thick foil on Damplifier offers three thermal insulation benefits.
First, the foil acts as a radiant barrier, reflecting heat back towards the source. When used on the firewall, this prevents as much heat from making it in to the cabin of the car. Less heat means cooler temperatures.
Second, the foil heat shield on Damplifier is dissipates heat by increasing the surface content, allowing for thermal dissipation and reduction.
Third, the butyl layer slows down any remaining heat from getting in to the cabin of the car. The longer it takes the heat to get to you, the more comfortable you are.
Damplifier is a thermal insulator much like a coffee thermos. If you put hot liquid in the thermos, it stays hot for longer. If you put ice water inside, the ice takes longer to melt.
This is basically what Damplifier will do for your car. With a couple layers of Damplifier installed, the outside environment has less effect on the internal temperatures of the car.
For the ultimate in thermal insulation and heat control, add a layer of Heatwave or Heatwave Pro on top of your final layer of Damplifier.

Q. What is the difference between Damplifier and Damplifier Pro?
A. Damplifier and Damplifier Pro are identical in terms of butyl formula and foil quality. The difference is the total thickness of each.
Damplifier is 1.5 mm with a 3 mil foil
Damp Pro is 2.0 mm with a 4 mil foil
Q. I have read that some foil backed vibration mats are actually roofing products made of asphalt. What makes Second Skin Damplifier different from these products?
A. At Second Skin, we only produce and sell products that are specifically designed for personal transportation vehicles. We do sell any offshoot products from unrelated industries. Unlike roofing products, Damplifier and Damplifier Pro use 100% butyl binders with no cheap asphalt filler, and no flammable Mylar facings. Our products are non toxic, odorless and designed by automotive industry experts.
The foil on our Damplifier product is 3 times thicker than that of most roofing tapes and will withstand temperatures over 500 degrees. The best you can hope for with asphalt rolls is 180 degrees. Even some of the more popular butyl formulated roof flashings car only tolerate up to 230 degrees. When you purchase a Second Skin product, you purchase proven quality.
Q. Why does Damplifier have a heat rating of 500 degrees if my car will never get higher than 250 f.?
A. Good question! Damplifier works by absorbing vibrations with an elastomeric butyl layer. This butyl adhesive layer is like bubble gum; the hotter it gets, the softer it gets. The softer the butyl is the less it will dampen vibrations. When we increase the heat rating, we effectively insure that the butyl will remain more solid at higher temperatures. The more solid the butyl, the more it vibrations it will dampen.
