Here are a few changes we have made to our water based noise and vibration coating:
- 2 new acrylic resins for better interior and undercoating durability
- New silicone binders for structural strength, and higher heat tolerance
- Multi mesh size mineral fillers as opposed to a single size filler, allows for better sound absorption
- Water based pigment with medium gloss sheen for better weather ability and improved adhesion
- Proprietary additives to allow for permanent adhesion to oily or greasy surfaces
- Flame resistant - self extinguishing
- VOC Free- non toxic
- Odorless when cured
Because Spectrum Firewall™ is water based, we loaded it with anti-corrosion chemicals to prevent rusting, and becuase Firewall created a seamless barrier, it also protects the sheet metal of your car from rust mechanicly as well as chemicaly.
Not only will Firewall block and disipate more heat than traditional mastic boards, it will also reduce more airborne noise than any of our ceramic coating competitors.
Apply Spectrum Firewall™ at a minimum thickness of 2mm for effective thermal insulation. If you are looking for the very best in heat and noise reduction available anywhere, apply Spectrum Firewall™ on top of a layer of Damplifier™ or Damplifier Pro™ and follow with a layer of Second Skin HeatWave™. This synergistic combination is 150% more effective than either product itself.

Q. What is the difference between Firewall and the other Second Skin coatings; Spectrum and Sludge?
A. Good question! (We get it a lot).
-Firewall is our water based ceramic coating. It is specifically designed to lower the temperature in passenger vehicles. It can be applied on any metal surface with a roller, brush our sprayed with the Second Skin undercoating gun. Firewall is loaded with ceramic spheres which not only reduce heat, but are also very small vacuum sealed chambers that reflect and resist the transmission of airborne sound waves making it an awesome top coating for Damplifier or Damplifier Pro. Firewall is also much lighter than Spectrum and Sludge. Because of its high ceramic content there is much less vibration absorbing resin in it. If you want to reduce heat and airborne noise, go with Firewall.
-Spectrum is our flag ship vibration coating. It is designed to specifically reduce resonance in automobile sheet metal. It does an amazing job at reducing noise in passenger cars, and anything else that is metal and vibrating. It will help reduce heat somewhat, but is not nearly as effective as our water based ceramic coating Firewall. Spectrum can be applied with a brush, roller or one of the spray guns we sell on our web site. It has the consistency of chocolate syrup. If you are looking for a coating that will take care of structure borne noise and vibrations, Spectrum is the product for you.
-Sludge is basically the same product as Spectrum, with one main difference. When you order Sludge, you get a gallon of regular Spectrum, plus small bottle of our proprietary thickening agent that we call Sludge Activator. Once you mix the activator in to the Spectrum, the viscosity goes from the consistency of chocolate syrup to peanut butter. It can be applied in much thicker coats, but can not be sprayed and will take longer to fully cure.
Q. Will Sludge Activator work with Firewall?
A. Yes. Adding a 6 oz. bottle of Sludge activator will transform the viscosity from Firewall from chocolate syrup to peanut butter, making it the easiest (and only) heat resiting mud in the industry.
Q. Does Sludge Activator speed up the curing time of Firewall?
A. No. Sludge Activator is only a thickening agent, not a curing agent. With or without the Sludge Activator, Firewall will have a shelf life of 6 months.
