Noise Reduction Uses...
Firewall is an awesome product for heat, and will do a decent job for reducing vibrations and structure borne noise, but it is not specifically designed to reduce noise.
For the best in noise reduction go with a combination of Damplfier Pro and Luxury Liner Pro with Spectrum used as an undercoating
Mobile Audio
Firewall will help somewhat with unwanted noise in your audio system but is not the idea product.
What you need is Damplifier or Damplifier Pro and a Second Skin Speaker Tweeker Kit
Thermal Insulation
Second Skin Firewall is our ceramic loaded insualation coating that blocks radiant heat and dissipates convectional heat.
Unlike our Spectrum noise coating whici is loaded with sound absorbin mineral fillers, Firewall is loaded with heat resistant ceramic spheres and glass beads.
Firewall also has unique silicone binders that help lower the internal temperature of a vehicle by as much as 30%
Because Firewall is water based, we loaded it with anti-corrosion chemicals to prevent rusting, as well as flame resistant addatives that allow Firewall to self exstinguish when exposed to fire.
Second Skin Firewall™ is perfect for street rods, vintage restoration projects and muscle car rebuilds.
If you are looking for the very best in heat and noise reduction available anywhere, apply Firewall on top of a layer of Damplifier Pro and follow with HeatWave Pro. This synergistic combination is 150% more effective than either product itself.
FAQ
What is the difference between Firewall, Spectrum, and Sludge?
All 3 products are water based, latex formulas that should get applied to metal or primed surfaces between 1 and 3 mm thick, but each serves different purposes.
-Firewall is a thermal coating designed to reduce heat transfer and lower the temperature inside the car. It will help with noise but not nearly as much as Spectrum or Sludge.
-Spectrum is a noise coating designed to reduce vibraions and structure borne sound in sheet metal. It will help with thermal insultion but not nearly as much as Firewall.
-Sludge is a noise paste that is nearly identicle as Spectrum. The only difference is the viscosity. Sludge is closer to peanut butter and can not be sprayed on. It will help with thermal insulation but not nearly as much as Firewall.
Will Activator work with Firewall?
Yes. Adding a 6 oz. bottle of Sludge activator will transform the viscosity from Firewall from chocolate syrup to peanut butter, making it the easiest (and only) heat resiting mud in the industry.
Does Activator speed up the curing time of Firewall?
No. Activator is only a thickening agent, not a curing agent. With or without the Sludge Activator, Firewall will have a shelf life of 6 months and will cure in 30 days.
How thick must Firewall be applied to work?
Firewall should be applied at least 1 mm thick in order to reduce heat. A maximum thickness of 3 mm is ideal for best results.
