Default '91 Chevy 1500-Single Cab

And so it begins...

First of all, here is the truck that I will be deadening

I will be doing this install in sections due to the time constraint of being in college and working. The product will be obtained in 2 orders for the same reason. ~pokey~

Product in hand...
16 sq.ft. Damp.
36 sq.ft. Damp. Pro

Product ordered today...
36 sq.ft. Damp. Pro
4 sheets overkill Pro (36 sq.ft.)
1 sheet heatwave (24 sq.ft.)
2 cans SS Spray Adhesive

Product for future order...
36 sq.ft. Damp. Pro
36 sq.ft. Lux Liner
2 cans SS Spray Adhesive

The goal: Reduce road and engine noise. (Stereo improvement is inevitable, therefore not included in the goal) BTW- Stereo specs. are in my sig.

The plan is as follows...
Outer Door Skin~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, 1 layer Damp., 1 layer overkill Pro
Inner Door Skin~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, 1 layer overkill Pro
Roof~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, 1 layer Heatwave
Rear Pillars~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, 1 layer overkill Pro
Back Wall~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, 1 layer Lux Liner
Floor~ 1 layer Damp. Pro (2 over exhaust), 1 layer Lux Liner
Front Wheel-Wells~ 1 layer Damp. Pro, Rubberized Undercoating

I took sound level measurements with a digital SLM from Radio Shack. Here are the "before" results.
P.S. The meter peaks at 126...don't know if the "Radio: On- Idle(window down)" resulted in something louder?
Probably not good for my ears...who is the hearing aid salesman? :stupid:

EXTREMELY sorry for the long introduction...but I figured I'd give you guys all the background info. I'll keep you all updated as progress ensues.~beer2~

Thanks! It's been a fun project to work on.

That's cool that your dad graduated from a University in Oklahoma, however...the Sooners (OU) are in Norman...I attend OSU, in Stillwater.

We are both in the Big 12 and only 60 miles apart, so it's easy to confuse them.

Sorry about that Derek. I use to get an earful from dad whenever I made that mistake. You'd think I'd have learned by now.

No sweat, it happens! ~noob~

I see from your install that it's been chilly in Ca. Did you have any problems installing the damp?

I know they say it's no big deal what the temp. is, but it has been 20-30 degrees here and I have been hesitant to start...I don't think I'll hold out much longer though, I'll just have to find a heated garage somewhere. ~beer2~

I've been doing my install between about noon and 2-3 p.m. Temps been about 50-52. No problem at all. I did however have the damp in the house where the temp was 72 until maybe 20 mins before I installed it. Hope that helps.

Just make sure you use a roller to get out as many of the air bubbles as possible.

Well I got a little bit done today...just the inside door panels.

Here is the passenger side panel before,

Then I added some sheet metal to cover the holes,

Then some damplifier pro,
I left the open spot in the bottom corner for the air to vent out

I will be adding overkill pro as soon as it arrives.
The driver side looks the same so I'll omit those pictures.

I put a layer of regular damp. on the three metal panels that I covered the holes with, then 1 layer of damp. pro over the whole door.

Here are a few more pics of the progress. Today I laid 1 layer of damp. pro on the rear pillars, above and below the rear window.

Check out the snow on the ground ~idhitit~ Chance of 6-10 inches more this weekend :woot: j/k

Passenger side pillar:

Driver side pillar:

Rear Wall:

That's all for now

Looking GREAT Derek. Did you find a heated garage somewhere? Or are you working out in the cold? I finished my doors last Wednesday. Now waiting for the temp to warm up so I can spray on the spec-firewall. It's only been in the lo to mid 50's here with nights getting down to lo-mid 20's. Forecast for next Wednesday is 76. I hope they're right so I can get it done then.

Thanks... I did the rear pillars and stuff in the cold, and today I did the roof (headliner) and back wall in a heated garage at work.

Hopefully it warms up for the both of us. Good luck with the rest of your install.

Here is the finished roof, minus heatwave...

And the back wall...

BTW... those wires WILL be dealt with at the end of the install.

Next up will be the heatwave on the roof, overkill pro everywhere else, then a layer of damp., layer of damp. pro, and overkill pro on the outer door skin. Then I will have to order some lux liner and more mat for the floor.
